Converting a Zip file to a 7-Zip file is at least a two-stage process. MOV file on the SD card is Index #4, but in the destination folder it has an index number of #15. In fact, in the vast majority of cases it is an improvement. You can see this in my previous screenshot. However, after the backup is made the copied files have a default sort (and index number) by the name of the file. When looking at the SD Card (source) in the E: drive, the files are sorted (and indexed) by when they were created. windows explorer is horse-sht, wonder if M ever will improve it. I also have a question regarding the Default Sort Order of the files. I use TC to move 500+GB in files around from one HDD to another, works great for me. Anyone have any ideas on how I can identify what service may be causing the problem, rather than me stopping each one to determine what one is the culprit? When I do this, the file creation date changes to the current date. When I went into Windows normally, there are over 70 services running. I have some files on a Windows XP PC that I would like to copy to a Windows 7 PC. While in safe mode, I counted the number of Windows Services running and there were 24. I ran the test twice with about 75 files and each time all the created dates mirrored the original. mp4, etc., so some video formats dont work out of the box in XYplorer preview and I still dont. I started the laptop in SAFE MODE and ran a few tests and out of all my tests the created date was preserved. Has much better file preview function than XYplorer, works without a hitch, with XYplorer, the preview of video and image files is a mess and it has no way to specify which program I could use to preview specific video files, e.x. Since admin (who I am thinking is the software developer) cannot duplicate my problem I began to think that this is a problem local to my laptop. File Date Corrector for Windows is able to correct. Therefore, the date Created can even be more recent than the date Modified. These files crashed my editing software, and only after I duplicated all of the files from 1969, so that they would have good creation dates, did they. I agree with PeterH that when making a copy you do want the created date to be NOW, but when backing up the created date should be preserved. When copying files to another storage media, Microsoft Windows takes the date of copying as the new file date Created and not the original creation date or date taken of the files. At first, I thought it might be from another software used to transfer these files, but then I realized that these were all newly created files, since they were copies created by XYplorer. But in my case when backing up the SD Card, I do wish to maintain the Created Date as when the picture was created.
